Land Surveys

Land surveys are required to provide an accurate plan of the site to include any level of detail requested.

Our standard survey would show all roads, kerbs, surfaces, buildings (including entrances and openings), trees, hedges, walls, shrubs and fence lines. Levels would also be taken across the site and would pick up any banking, ditches, streams or ponds. Drainage items would be included with covers lifted to show pipe sizes, invert levels and direction of flow. Drainage could be traced if required. Services covers and other street furniture would also be shown.

The level of detail surveyed can be tailored to the purpose of the survey, and as much or as little information can be included. Landscape Architects normally request much greater detail then developers.

We have even carried out surveys of graveyards where each individual plot is identified with the occupiers detail included!

NRLS have carried out surveys varying in size from small rear gardens up to areas in excess of 100 hectares.

Measured Building Surveys

Measured Building Surveys are required for a variety of reasons. The most common uses are for refurbishment or redevelopment of buildings and for space planning ensuring that valuable space is used efficiently. Whereas Floor Plans only are required for Space Planning, detailed Elevations and Sections are required for most other uses.

Our standard survey would be presented at either 1 to 50 or 1 to 100 scale and would show all walls, partitions, doors, windows, heating, fixtures and fitting, stairs, sanitaryware, floor surfaces and would specify the room usage, Heights would be shown to all doors, windows, ceilings and overhead beams.

The level of detail surveyed is dependant on the purpose of the survey. Shopping centres often require only sufficient data to accurately calculate rental areas, whereas barn conversions can require extensive measurement of roof trusses, purlins, beams and undulating floors.
